Your Cosmetic Injectables Procedure

Cosmetic injectables are usually administered in-office. Fillers are injected into the targeted area(s) of the face to provide natural-looking volume. The upper, mid, and / or lower face can be treated during your procedure. Your cosmetic injections can be completed in less than 30 minutes, on average.

Different cosmetic injectable options can be combined to produce an optimal result. For example, your cosmetic surgeon may choose to use Botox® alongside dermal fillers, such as Restylane® or Juvederm®, when treating facial laxity. Your plastic surgeon will help advise which cosmetic injectables will best fulfill your procedure goals during your consultation.

Cosmetic Injectable Options

Botox® (Cosmetic)	Made from botulinum toxin type A, Botox® targets frown lines and crow’s feet above the brows. Botox® temporarily blocks nerve impulses and relaxes the forehead muscles, leading to a smoother appearance.
Dysport®	Utilizes botulinum toxin type A, the same ingredient found in Botox® Cosmetic. Dysport® can ease forehead lines by temporarily blocking muscle activity above your brows. Dysport® can be especially effective for patients who are resistant to Botox® treatment.
Radiesse®	Contains tiny calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, which are found naturally in your body. Radiesse® can smooth smile lines and chin wrinkles, as well as provide a lift to the cheeks. Radiesse® encourages the stimulation of natural collagen production to improve skin structure.
Juvederm® XC	Comprised of hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring substance in your body). Juvederm® can restore smoothness to the midface by reducing prominent wrinkles or lines around the nose, mouth, and lips. Additionally, Juvederm® may be used to improve under-eye bags or fine lines around the temples. Juvederm® XC contains a small amount of anesthesia.
Restylane®	Hyaluronic acid-based filler that is similar in composition to Juvederm®. Restylane® can volumize deep smile lines and facial creases. Restylane® Lyft and Restylane® Silk are also available to target specific facial areas, depending on your treatment goals.
Belotero®	Made from hyaluronic acid, Belotero® is designed to treat superficial fine lines around the eyes and mouth. Since Belotero® is softer than other dermal fillers, it can be used to treat wrinkles close to the skin’s surface.
Volbella® XC	A hyaluronic acid filler that can plump and shape the lips, as well as fill fine lines around the mouth. Volbella® is specifically designed to add smooth-looking volume to the midface. Volbella® XC contains a tiny amount of anesthesia.
Voluma® XC	Voluma® is comprised of hyaluronic acid and targets hollowing around the cheeks for longer-lasting results than other dermal fillers. Voluma® can lift the mid-face by providing natural-looking volume to enhance facial contours. Voluma® XC contains a small amount of anesthesia.
Sculptra®	Made from poly-L-lactic acid and can be used to reinforce the underlying structure of your skin. Sculptra® injections help replace lost collagen over time by stimulating additional production in the deep dermis. This injectable option can enhance sunken cheeks, nasolabial folds, and chin wrinkles.

What To Expect After Undergoing Treatment With Cosmetic Injectables

Patients experience virtually no downtime after being treated with cosmetic injectables. You can return to work and resume your daily activities immediately after completing treatment. Very minimal tenderness or swelling may occur at the treatment site(s). However, these effects should subside within a few days. Treatment guidelines can be further discussed during your consultation.

Cosmetic injectable results can last from 6 months to several years after your initial procedure; this is dependent on the type of injectable being used, as well as the treatment area. Further treatments are required in order to maintain your facial rejuvenation results. Hyaluronic acid fillers are fully reversible.
